More than the roads, it ruled the dreams of most Indian car aficionados since it is also one of the rarer cars in the world. With its hefty price tag and niche, only six of these came to India, mostly bought by the Indian royals, also including the last Phantom II ever made. The one below is famous by the name of the Star of India.

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

This was the second generation of Bel Air and was launched as the Hot One in advertisements.  Its Ferrari-inspired grill was a beauty to look at and the vehicle was very well-received across the world and in India.

Hindustan 10

This classic was entirely made in India and came with a Morris XPAG 1140cc/ 37 bhp engine. An endangered vehicle now, this can be spotted in period dramas and movies such as Lootera.

1958 Chevrolet Bel Air Impala Sport Coupe

Only 125,480 of these Impala coupes were made in 1958 and it came with two engine choices. The model went on to become a rage with the richie-richs of India even as 1958 recession hit.

1941 WILLYS MB

It was made on US Army request for WW II. Reporter Ernie Pyle labelled it as, "It did everything. It went everywhere. Was a faithful as a dog, as strong as a mule, and as agile as a goat. It constantly carried twice what it was designed for and still kept going."

1956 Dodge Kingsway

Premier Automobiles assembled it for India. It was a more economic buy compared to the other models then, and was lapped up in the newly-emerging Indian market.

Buick Series 50

Buick coupes and sedans were all the rage in India in the late 1940s. The 1955 Buick Super Riviera had an intricate, more expensive speedometer. Almost every royal state and anyone with a rich taste had a Buick then.

1967 Fiat 1100

As regular as they may seem, Fiat 1100 were initially imported to India till 1964. It quickly went on to become India’s favourite family car.
